Tamiš is a river going through a plain, and it is 359km long. 241km belongs to Romania and 118 to Serbia.
Its spring is in the north of the Carpathians in Romania, it goes through the entire Banat and it flows into the Danube.
The most important port is in Pančevo, while there are many fish-ponds upstream, among which the biggest ones are in Banatski Despotovac, Uzdin, Sakule and Slatina.  
Tamiš with its surroundings  is one of the favorite picnic places of people in the municipality of Kovačica. From the very beginning of spring till the beginning of autumn, the surroundings of the river is full of people on picnic, campers and fishermen. Most often, people are fishing for carp, catfish, white fish, pike and perch. The area close to Idvor is an ideal spot for fishermen no matter if they want to fish in a part suitable for that or if they want to do it in water. There are no rules about where certain fish can be found but the fishing season for a certain type of fish is well known.The season of carp starts on June 1st and ends on March 30th, catfish season on June 16th and ends on May 30th,  and pike season starts on April 1st and it ends on September 30th.
