The municipality of Kovačica is in a fertile southeast part of Vojvodina occupying 419 km2. In the south, there is the municipality of Pančevo, the municipality of Alibunar is in the east, the municipality of Sečanj in the northeast, the municipality of Zrenjanin is in the north and the municipality of Opovo in the west. The altitude varies from 75m on the alluvial plain around Tamiš to 135m in eastern and south-eastern part. Belgrade is 50km away and Novi Sad 90km.  There are eight towns and villages: Kovačica, Padina, Debeljača, Crepaja, Uzdin, Samoš, Idvor and Putnikovo.
Accordingg to the latest data, in the municipality of Kovačica there are 27.890 people in total. Out of this number, 6,763 people live in Kovačica, and in other towns and villages: Padina 5,760, Debeljača 5,325, Crepaja 4,855, Uzdin 2,498, Samoš 1,247, Idvor 1,198, Putnikovo 243.

The ethnic structure of the municipality of Kovačica is similar to most municipalities in Vojvodina. It is mainly characterized by a great national variety with different percentages of different peoples: Slovaks 41%, Serbs 33.9%, Hungarians 10.5%, Romanians 7% and others. The Statute of our municipality establishes equal usage of languages of Serbs, Slovaks, Hungarians and Romanians. When it comes to economy of the municipality of Kovačica, agriculture takes the leading place although almost every town and village have industrial objects important for the locals. In one word, the municipality of Kovačica is a small community famous for Mihajlo Pupin, naïve art, fairs in Debeljača, horse-breeders in Crepaja and national diversity, where Serbs, Slovaks, Hungarians, Romanians and others have been living while respecting one another and cherishing their traditions for more than two hundred years.
